Allow me to take this opportunity, on behalf of the African Chess Confederation (ACC) Executive, to express our sincere gratitude to the Zimbabwe Chess Federation (ZCF) for the successful organisation and hosting of the 16th edition of the Africa Youth Chess Championship (AYCC).
The ACC Executive extends its heartfelt appreciation to all individuals, committees, volunteers, officials, and partners who worked tirelessly often behind the scenes to ensure the smooth planning and delivery of this prestigious continental event. Your collective dedication, professionalism, and commitment were evident throughout the championship.
Through these commendable efforts, young chess players from across Africa were provided with a memorable, well-organised, and inspiring platform to compete at the highest level, develop their skills, and build lasting connections. The successful execution of this championship stands as a true reflection of shared values, teamwork, and a deep-rooted passion for the advancement of youth chess on the continent.
As with every major undertaking, the tournament also presented valuable lessons and insights that will undoubtedly contribute to the continued improvement and enhancement of future ACC competitions and programmes. We are confident that these experiences will strengthen planning, operational efficiency, and overall standards going forward.
The ACC Executive is pleased to announce that Uganda will host the 17th edition of the Africa Youth Chess Championship in 2026. The Confederation is confident that Uganda will build on the strong foundation set by Zimbabwe and deliver another successful and impactful championship.
The ACC once again congratulates the Zimbabwe Chess Federation for this outstanding achievement and looks forward to continued collaboration in advancing chess development across Africa.
