Junior Development & Schools Program

The Zimbabwe Chess Federation (ZCF) places strong emphasis on youth development as the cornerstone of the nation’s chess future. Through our Junior Development and Schools Program, we are dedicated to identifying, nurturing, and guiding young talent from the earliest stages of their chess journey.

Our initiatives include structured training camps, inter-school tournaments, and mentorship programs designed to equip young players with the skills, discipline, and strategic thinking required to excel both nationally and internationally. By engaging qualified coaches and experienced mentors, ZCF ensures that junior players receive professional guidance and continuous exposure to competitive play.

Working closely with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, as well as school authorities and local chess clubs, ZCF actively promotes the inclusion of chess within educational settings. These collaborations aim to integrate chess as a tool for intellectual development, improving critical thinking, concentration, and problem-solving abilities among learners.

Through these efforts, ZCF is building a strong pipeline of future champions, creating opportunities for young Zimbabweans to develop their potential, earn recognition, and ultimately represent the country on the global stage
