Zimbabwe’s PWD Chess Team Returns Home Victorious from Kazakhstan Olympiad

The team’s arrival marks the end of a historic campaign that saw Zimbabwe proudly represented among the world’s best, with players demonstrating exceptional skill, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

A major highlight of the evening was a courtesy visit to the Zimbabwe Chess Federation (ZCF) offices, where the team had an opportunity to meet with ZCF President, share their incredible experiences, and reflect on the lessons learned from competing at such a prestigious global event.

Special congratulations go to Prince Msokeri, who brought home a bronze medal and a diploma after an outstanding individual performance on Board 3 — a remarkable achievement that has placed Zimbabwe firmly on the international chess map. His success is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and the growing strength of adaptive chess in the country.

The PWD team’s participation and success at the Olympiad underscore Zimbabwe’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in sport, particularly in empowering players with disabilities to compete at the highest level.

The Zimbabwe Chess Federation expressed deep pride in the team’s achievements and extended gratitude to all players, coaches, and partners who made the journey possible.

“We are thrilled to see our players shine on the global stage,” ZCF said. “Their dedication, courage, and discipline continue to inspire the entire chess community and the nation at large. We remain committed to supporting such opportunities that uplift and empower all chess players, regardless of ability.”

Congratulations once again to the team for flying the Zimbabwean flag high in Kazakhstan — your victory is a victory for us all!
